Cries of Mercy (Cries Series) by Angela Beach Silverthorne

New Release

Can Bren and Joseph’s love for each other and faith in God overcome all?

Cries of Mercy is the third in the Cries Series written by Angela Beach Silverthorne, a Christian woman whose faith and character shine through in this incredible series.

The story is set in the small town of Silverton, a close nit Christian community, and the chief protagonist is Bren, a young woman whose life the readers have watched evolve in this series. She suffered a traumatic childhood, however found sanctuary at The Haven, where, through the teachings of her grandmother ‘GG’ she discovered her faith in God, and realised that she was a Lighten, which means a warrior of God, and to signify this she carries a crescent-moon birth mark. As a young woman Bren graduate as a nurse, and returns to The Haven to be the village midwife, and then eventually marries Pastor Joseph.

The scene is set at the beginning of this book with Bren reflecting on her marriage, honeymoon and deep endearing love for her husband Joseph. However, their past has also been tinged with great sadness as she has been pregnant three times, and each of her sons have died before or just after birth. These tragedies, although heart-breaking for the couple have united them through Christ and their deep faith in God.

Silverton is thriving and wonderful things are happening in their church and at the New Beginnings Empowerment Center. Some people believe that a jail should be built for troubled souls but Joseph strongly believes that the way through to these people is through rehabilitation. Empowered by His Spirit Joseph wants to increase his ministry teachings, however Bren is afraid initially. For her, memories of past incidents emerge, however, knowing her husband’s resolute faith in his path in life, she relents and Joseph starts doing tours.

As is usual in such a caring community, the residents each have their own stories, and have overcome demons and troubles. However, some of these have re-emerged from the past, and even Joseph discovers some buried family secrets which are set to shake the lives of those he loves. Birth and death are a part of life as we are reminded every day, and when a much loved member of the community and friend is diagnosed with terminal cancer there is much sorrow, yet even amidst the sadness there is joy when Bren discovers that she is with child again, and together the couple pray for a safe delivery of their baby.

As Joseph’s ministry to his flock and tours are increasing, there is unrest and faces from the past arrive in Silverton, bent on causing mayhem. Yet resolute, Joseph finds strength and values the advice of his good friend Dominique a Franciscan Priest, and together they fortify and strengthen the villagers in their fight against the demons of Satan.

As family secrets are revealed, and puzzles from the past are solved, the mysteries unfold, leaving Bren and Joseph looking forward to overcoming everything and being a family unit, but will their dreams come true?

This captivating story, although part of a trilogy can happily be enjoyed alone. It is a wonderful story in which the community of Silverton comes alive, and its characters, their lives, loves and experiences are richly described by the author, making it a truly outstanding read.

About the Author:

I was born in West Point, Georgia, but hail Eastern North Carolina as home. Writing has always been a part of my life. As soon as I could hold a pencil, I was writing. I’m a firm believer that reading and writing go hand-in-hand. I devour books in all genres, but I love stories that focus on reality within families. I want the story to be real, even if it’s messy and painful. That’s real.
In 1970, I married by teenage sweetheart, Dallas. Our family has grown from three daughters to three wonderful sons-in-law and nine grandchildren. In the large bulk of time between marriage, family and retirement, we moved ten times. I’ve worked various jobs–fifteen years with Hospice; ten with Literacy; six with Habitat for Humanity; three as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for neglected, abused and abandoned youth; and as a Director of a preschool for at-risk children. I have served with Pamlico Emmaus, taught Sunday school and written countless Bible studies. My joy is teaching seniors who actually end up teaching me. Isn’t that the way God truly intends it?
Between all the moves and a full life, I’ve always craved learning. I attended five colleges, finally graduating from the State University of New York, Albany, with an English degree. Every school I attended, I’d fall in love with a new discipline–accounting, microbiology, creative writing, Shakespearean studies, or Young Adult Literature. Each of these were tentative, a hobby. My lifelong learning has been within the Word of God. That’s my passion.
Like most people, life has thrown me into a lot of deep pits, health crises, death, anger, frustration and insecurity. In each of these seasons of life, I have grown to realize that all my effort and angst did nothing to ease me through them. Only waiting on God’s timing, trusting in His plan, and working in His kingdom has helped me maneuver through these hard times. Trust me, nothing prepares you more to be a comfort to others than the trials and sufferings you have been through and will experience. It gives life credibility. It braids your life to others. What a joy to know if we allow God to use us, he will take every struggle and heartache, and turn it into glory for Him.

About the Book:

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”-1 Cor. 13:7

Can love endure all things?
Is love powerful enough to withstand a full-on assault to the heart?
How can love recover from an unimaginable horror?

When Joseph and Bren’s idyllic dreams begin to shatter, questions too deep to answer rise. Dark unholy secrets surface. A forgotten darkness filters through the subconscious dredging up insecurity, failure, rejection and fear.

Trudging through valleys of loss, brokenness, disappointment and pain, Joseph and Bren cling together, keeping God’s word close. The shield of faith they’ve built remains strong when evil attacks and revenge seeks to destroy. Any doubts Joseph or Bren have cease as they changed their questions into a “how”. How can we serve You, Lord? How can we be obedient when our hearts are breaking?

In their moments of deepest agony, God shows Joseph and Bren that all things are possible with Him. His love, grace and mercy are real, and His redemption power is tangible and available to all who seek the Almighty God.

A profound love story that probes into the heart of humanity. Romance. Deceit. Heartbreak. Hope.

Cries of Grace by Angela Beach Silverthorne

Simply beautiful!

This inspiring story begins as Bren graduates as a nurse from university, and returns to The Haven, the wonderful home where she found sanctuary with her now deceased grandmother ‘GG’. This is the sequel to ‘Cries of Innocence’ in which we learnt about Bren’s traumatic childhood, and how, through the teachings of her grandmother, and others, she discovered her faith in God, and that she was a Lighten (warrior of God). I have to say right now that it doesn’t matter of you haven’t read ‘Cries of Innocence,’ this story happily stands alone.

Bren’s graduation is five years after there was horrific demonic activity at The Haven, which caused so much heartbreak. During those years training for her Master’s degree in nursing Bren’s faith in God has remained as strong as ever and she is returning home hoping to be able to help her local community by becoming a midwife, following in the footsteps of her grandmother.

It is always difficult returning after a long absence, and Bren discovers that inevitably there have been many changes at The Haven. However, the air is buzzing with activity, the business is busy, and best of all, the man she loves, Joseph is still waiting for her, and planning their future together.

Everything is perfect, and the community is growing in the love of God, however Bren is constantly reminded of her grandmother’s advice to guard her heart and forgive. As her hopes and dreams come true, not only for herself, but for those around her, at the back of her mind she cannot help but stay vigilant, forever watching and on guard, terrified that Satan’s servants may return.

She is also uncomfortably aware that those who live at The Haven were not the only ones in Silverton who were affected by that terrible night five years ago, and she finds herself wondering if it could be true that ‘the sins of the father shall be visited upon the son.’

This is an incredibly inspiring story, Silverton and its inhabitants are just like you and me, they have hopes, fears, problems, worries, and hates, as we do. However, this is a strong Christian community and their belief in the love of God and his son Jesus helps them throughout all their daily life. In this modern, consumer orientated world, so busy and impersonal, often we think only of ourselves, however through Bren, Joseph and the other characters, the author reminds us that others need our help and we can make a difference. As I finished the last page of this wonderful book I was not only in awe of the achievements of its characters, but I felt uplifted by the realisation that He is always with us, and that it only takes a moment to stop and ask God for help or guidance, he is always there, listening…

I highly recommend this wonderful story and can’t wait until early next year when ‘Cries of Mercy’ will be released.

About the Book:

Bren’s grandmother said to guard your heart and forgive.
How far does God’s grace truly reach?

The Haven has enjoyed five years of peace after a brutal demonic assault. The land has flourished. People have moved on, reaping a treasure house of blessings and getting comfortable and complacent.

Bren has been away for five years. Now she heads home with a Master’s degree in nursing, hoping to follow her grandmother’s passion as a midwife. Going home holds deep-rooted issues. She must face the death of her grandmother, her father’s involvement in demonic activity, and bitter disappointments.

Going home also means seeing Joseph. Through brief visits, phone calls, and letters, Bren has fallen in love with Joseph. She is indebted to him for helping restore The Haven to its former glory, but she wants more. She wants her love reciprocated to the fullest.

Going home might mean more hurt, more brokenness, but it also might mean love and passion, sharing a future with the man of her dreams.

Cries of Grace weaves a beautiful tale of romance, redemption, faith, and trust, but in the background things are shifting—mistrust, deceit, and corruption begin to slip in and insidiously corrode hope.

Cries of innocence by Angela Beach Silverthorne

A powerfully inspiring journey into faith.

This powerful and inspirational story begins with an unhappy seventeen year old Bren struggling to put on a brave face to the world, whilst having to deal with more than her fair share of personal and emotional issues at school, with her boyfriend, and family.

Angry and resentful of the labels her family have been given, she desperately tries to help her mother and sisters as they all live under the tyranny of her drunken father. However one day everything changes when Bren discovers that her aunt and a friend are back in Silverton…

Until then her only sanctuary had been with her school friends Luci and Robyn. However, as her home life becomes more perilous, Bren reluctantly finds herself placed under the protective wing of her paternal grandmother GG. A stranger to Bren in many ways, and distant whilst she grew up, Bren soon discovers that GG is not the person she imagined, and that the rumours and accusations which she had heard whispered about GG are false.

Slowly, insidiously, an evil presence has risen in Silverton, capturing the souls of the townsfolk and turning them into other things, evil creatures, who are forced to carry out horrendous acts, the question is, is it possible to defeat the evil one, and bring peace again to the town, and if so, how?

As she is welcomed into GG’s home where her Aunt Falon, and Falon’s friend the ethereal Lael live, along with Moses and Miriam, Bren’s eyes are opened to the spiritual world of the Lightens. Through their teachings, she realises how their absolute faith and trust in God has strengthened, protected and moulded the lives of every member of her family, each in unique ways, so they can stand united when their time comes to be called to fight in his name.

Becoming absorbed into the Lighten way of life, Bren soon begins to understand the strength and humility she must obtain through reading and prayer to open herself to God’s will, follow his lead, and enter his service. However, the question is, will she be strong enough, and be able to find it in her heart to do what she must ultimately do, when she is called?

This is a powerfully inspiring story as the spirit of Bren is in all of us, lost souls, unsure of our path in life, not knowing what to do, and who to believe, or whether to fight or run, and needing guidance. As the author reveals, it is only when we read the word of God, fully understand his messages, and then open ourselves up fully to his teachings and guidance that we can truly find the peace and the strength to go forward in life.

Not only is this book a wonderful story which can be enjoyed by all, but it is also truly beautifully written and motivating. Each of the characters have their own special story to tell and as this book came to a close, not only did I feel sad that it had ended, but also incredibly at peace.

At the end of this book are some of the amazing recipes from Alicia and GG mentioned in it, and also an extra special one from the Remedy Room which I can’t wait to try!
