The Climate Change Adventure: Inform children about how disastrous climate change will be (Picture book) (The Rescue Elves Book 3) by Monty J. McClaine

A wonderful Relves adventure which explains climate change and its effects on our planet.

This is the third book in ‘The Rescue Elves’ series of children’s books. The Rescue Elves or ‘Relves’ have a very important job at one particular time of the year, Christmas. They are Santa’s Elves, and it is their job to ensure that Santa and his reindeer get their presents to the children of the world, however, to be fit enough for this once a year job, they are given special focused activities, in different parts of the world, throughout the year by Mrs. Claus.

The setting for this adventures activity is one of their favourite, Island Castle, which is set in the middle of a big lake. Relves Charlie, Jack, Sparkle and Holly are very excited, and are looking forward to catching up with friends who live in the lake. However, when they arrive they are greeted with a mystery, the lake water has disappeared, and not only that, but their friends lives are in danger! What could be the cause?

As parents, grandparents, and carers of the world, we have a duty to protect it for the generations who follow us. The dangers the world face through global warming are real to us, its wildlife and environments. Being very aware of this danger I was delighted to discover this book to read with my granddaughter who has just turned five. This Relves adventure in an engaging way clearly explains what global warming is, however importantly, this is not all, it also explains what we can all do to stop it.

Educating our children through wonderful story books like this, which explain very simply the effects that everyday things have on the planet, and how the introduction of new technology can reduce the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, is vital for the future of our planet, and everyone and thing which lives on it. I highly recommend this to families who wish to educate their children on the importance of environmental awareness.

About the Author:

Proud winner of the 7th Annual Beverly Hills Book Awards (2018) in the “Environment” category for The Rescue Elves – The Plastic Pollution Adventure.

Proud winner of the 5th Annual Beverly Hills Book Awards in the “Holiday” category for Super Speed Sam – Santa’s Rescue Dog.

I feel that some of the natural interactions between family and friends are gradually eroding, if not already completely worn away for some. And I was reminded of a C.S.Lewis quotation –

“A children’s story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children’s story in the slightest.”

It also feels like the simple joy of laughing or crying among family and friends is being replaced by beeps, bops and demands to ‘add new features’ or ‘why doesn’t this work?’ or ‘who’s hogging the Wi-Fi?’.

So I set out to create a fun and exciting series of children’s short stories, with lots of adventure and splashes of humor, all paced to hold children’s attention whether reading or listening… at least that’s my hope!

Stories that will delight both boys and girls, the young and old, and, of course, moms and dads! Tales that allow a return to simpler values, kid-like imagination for both children and adults and, I sincerely hope, bring families closer together.

About the Book:

The Relves were very excited today because their rescue mission was taking them to one of their favorite places in the world – the old ruins of the Island Castle. There they would meet up with their young fish friends, who they hadn’t seen in a long, long, time.

“This is going to be such a treat,” Sparkle said with a smile. Holly nodded. “Yeah, I love all the rich, green grass where the old castle sits!” Jack eagerly added, “And the clear blue water of the lake around it all,” as Charlie grinned in agreement.

The Relves had all the special equipment they needed that day. A mountain rescue rope, hard hats so they would not hurt their heads, and sturdy climbing boots.

But, as they got closer to the castle ruins, they could not believe their eyes. What once was an old broken-down castle on a small island in the middle of a gentle lake, was now a towering castle, that sat on what looked like a mountain. And the lake had all but disappeared, except for a few large puddles that looked like they were moving by themselves.

I Believe: It Is Ok to Be Afraid and Talk About My Fears, Just Like Sparky, the Amazing Dog by Suzanne Mondoux

In this interactive children’s book Sparky the little dog learns to overcome his fears.

In this inspirational story two horses, Carlo and Teddy, are yet again on their adventures when they hear whimpering. Being inquisitive they decide to investigate, and discover a little black dog, hiding, head in paws.

The little dog is scared, and so being caring souls they suggest that he should come with them so he is not alone and afraid anymore. Eagerly he joins them on their journey and is happy when they suggest the name Sparky for him.

Teddy explains to Sparky that although he is scared, he has in fact already taken his first brave step by lifting his head from his paws and talking to them. Teddy believes that he knows just the place where Sparky will be at home, loved and encouraged to overcome his fears by the children and animals who live there.

After hearing about this amazing place Sparky is keen to go there, and when they arrive Sparky is immediately made to feel safe, at home and loved by everyone there.

In this ‘I Believe’ book, through interactive drawing and positive affirmations children discover that although facing their fears is scary at first, if they can take the step to bravely talk them over, they will be able to overcome them.

At the special place Sparky is invited to, and in the book, the author invites her readers to write for 30 days about the fears they have, and things which they can do to overcome them, and then also each day they are encouraged to think what they can do to help animals.

The author, Suzanne Mondoux is an explorer, environmental professional and author, and her love for animals and her dedication to being a voice for them shines through in this wonderful series of incredibly motivational children’s books.

I Believe: I Am a Great Reader and Writer Just Like Jojo, the Talented Horse by Suzanne Mondoux

A wonderful story encouraging confident reading and writing.

The star of this children’s book is Jojo the talented horse. When she meets two other horses, Carlo and Teddy, she invites them to a reading and writing class which is being held at her ranch. Already waiting for the class to begin are four children, Julie, Sam, Paul and Suzie.

When Julie reveals that she has a stutter it prompts Carlo to confide in them that he had a difficulty too when he was younger, but he has overcome it. In doing this he gives Julie and the other children confidence that they can overcome obstacles too.

Jojo is very pleased to hear the story and decides to set the children and horses’ playtime stories to improve their writing and reading. In the first they are asked to explain why they believe they can be great readers and writers, and in the second they are asked to write about the person who has helped them learn something new.

However, this is an interactive book and so the playtimes continues for a further 30 days. The reader is encouraged to write their own short stories each day about any type of animal, and how people can help it. They are encouraged to use their imagination and see where it takes them.

My grandson is staying with us, and so we have decided that we are going to do a short story each day.  Kevin is loving the creativeness of this project, and as a parent and grandparent it is amazing to see how his writing and imagination is growing each day.

Having belief in yourself and your abilities doesn’t always come naturally to everyone. Each person is different, and sometimes there may be physical, or mental challenges to overcome. This wonderful book is excellent for children, but also a tool for parents and teachers showing them how to encourage their charges to be creative and express their dreams and imagination as stories.

I absolutely love this book and its concept. The message is clearly demonstrated to children, practice regularly, use your imagination, believe in yourself and anything is possible. It is also an important lesson to adults that sometimes spending time with your child, giving them the confidence that you believe they can do a task is all it takes to  sow the seeds of success, and these will eventually grow helping your child gain confidence and belief in themselves.

Cucina Tipica: An Italian Adventure by Andrew Cotto

The sights and culture of Italy form the backdrop for this incredible Italian adventure.

I just loved this book! In it I was transported from the first page, with American Jacoby Pines and his fiancée Claire, from my adoptive country of France into beautiful Italy. The author, Andrew Cotto, who lives in Brooklyn, is a writer whose articles have appeared in many national journals. He is also a teacher and has taught composition courses and creative writing workshops in New York City.  This Italian adventure is his third novel and in it his wonderful storytelling abilities shine through.

When the story begins the disheartened Jacoby is unemployed following an unfortunate incident at work, and he finds himself soaking up the food, culture and customs of Italy with his accomplished travel writer fiancée Claire.

Arriving in France, together they travel along the French Riviera, then onto the eye-opening Italian Autostrada, enjoying the marvellous coastal views, and staying at a beautiful coastal hotel. Then the next day they head inland to the villa they have rented, in the hills above Florence, for the coming year.

However, although they are primarily in the region for Claire’s assignment for the prestigious Haxby’s Travel Guide, Jacoby has his own agenda. Having never known his mother, he discovered upon the death of his father a box containing a photograph of a woman standing on a great lawn, and written on the back is ‘Villa Floria-Zanobini 1939.’ Thoroughly intrigued, the newly orphaned Jacoby looks upon this opportunity to join Claire at this disastrous stage in his career as the hand of fate at work.

With him, we join Claire on her research trips, as she travels the countryside meeting people from all walks of life. These experiences give the reader a wonderful introduction into the food and culture of this part of Italy, and a very entertaining look into the mentality of the Italian males’ mind, regarding women.

However, this story is primarily Jacoby’s adventure, and left to his own devices, he finally tracks down a Hotel Floria-Zanobini, which he discovers is run by another expat American, the eccentric Bill.

When he shows Bill his picture, its story begins to unfold, and an excited Jacoby finds himself beginning an incredible adventure, with Bill showing him the Italy he has become part of in the previous 35 years. Together the friends set out on a mission to track down the mysterious lady in the photograph and discover the link she has with Jacoby.

Encounters with wild boar, incredible museums and artwork, wonderful buildings, and the marvellous traditional recipes, wines, and experiences, this story has it all. The author brings Florence and the countryside surrounding it to life, as with Jacoby his readers embark on a fantastic voyage of discovery of the beautiful experiences this country has to offer. Whilst throughout the story the tumultuous love story between Jacoby and Claire rides a roller coaster, helped in no mean way by Claire’s outrageous cousin Dolores.

Whether you love Italy, dream of visiting it one day (like myself) or just want to enjoy an incredibly enjoyable book set in a beautiful part of the world, I thoroughly recommend this story as the best I have ever read!

About the Author:

Andrew Cotto is the award-winning author of three novels. He has written for The New York Times, Men’s Journal, Rolling Stone, Parade, Maxim, The Huffington Post, Salon, Conde Nast Traveler, Italy magazine and more. Mommy & Mikel Go for a Walk by Ann Morris

A walk in the park turns into an amazing adventure for mommy & Mikel.

Memories of the lovely times spent by the author with her son Mikel are the inspiration for this wonderful story.

As parents we know how important it is to keep our children safe, however children don’t always understand. So, through this story the author explains to children that because mummy wants Mikel to get the best out of their walk in the park, she knows that he must dress correctly, and is important for Mikel to accept what she says.

On their walk Mikel sees a beautiful bird, and mummy tells him that it is a goldfinch and that they are the state bird of Iowa. However Mikel is soon to discover that there are lots of different things to see on their walk, and that not all are okay, some can be dangerous, but with mummy’s guidance he is safe.

Later, when they see an animal swimming in the river, Mikel wants to get closer, but mummy sensibly reminds him that it is dangerous to get too close to water, and so they take a look at the animal and then go to the library to discover what it is.

In the library not only does Mikel learn how to behave, but he also finds the mysterious animal in an encyclopaedia. Can you guess what it is?

I read this with my two grandsons aged 4 and 6 and they not only enjoyed the story but learnt a valuable lesson from it. The lesson was that they should always listen to their mummy and take her advice, as she loves them and not only wants to teach them about the wonderful world around them, but also keep them safe.

This book is beautifully illustrated by Blythe Russo, and will be treasured for years to come.

About the Author:

Ann says: This was my first published children’s book. It practically wrote itself, as it is a true account of a walk she wnt on with her son Mikel before computers. The story is one that we have both always remembered and cherished. When Mikel read the book, he laughed and remembered the day.

About the Book:

Mommy and Mikel find rare time to spend together. Mommy suggests going for a walk, and Mikel loves the idea. On the walk there are natural teaching moments, as Mikel is curious and asks about everything he sees. Mommy patiently guides him and cautions him when his enthusiasm would let him leap before he looks.

This is experience is not only for the learning from Mikel’s curiosity, but because Mikel discovers a mystery animal. In order to learn what the animal is, Mommy takes him to the library and shows him how to find the animal using the resources available. Success! Both are happy and Mikel has learned some lessons in caution.
It is also available in Spanish on Amazon.es – Mami y Mikel dan un paseo

NEIGHBORS: The Yard Critters TOO by George Held

Discover which critters could live in YOUR neighborhood.

After reading the beautifully written and highly entertaining NEIGHBORS: The Yard Critters, Book 1, I was really looking forward to sitting down with my granddaughter to read this, the second book in this series. As I looked at the cover, before I even opened it, I could tell I was not going to be disappointed.

Yet again George Held has done a wonderful job writing enchanting rhyming verse which not only captivated my little one, but also taught her many interesting things about some more new critters which she might find in her yard, or neighborhood.

Being a family of nature lovers, this book with its beautiful illustrations is a wonderful way to introduce her to the natural world and it very quickly captured her attention.

Included were some critters which are common, like the ladybug, sparrows and crows, and there are others who although not rare, are shy, like shrew and field mice. There are night time owls, and prickly characters like the porcupine, cheeky chipmunks, nasty ticks, beautiful humming birds and of course the crafty coyote, each described in the author’s wonderfully magical way.

I love the way this book brings the natural world around us to life, offering amazing insights into our animal friends, also, I love that it gently teaches the reader that all nature has a place in this world.

I highly recommend this book for parents, grandparents, and care givers to read to their young charges, and also for the children themselves to read, enjoy, and treasure, when they are able to.

What an amazing and life changing book!

Jointly written by husband and wife Spiritual Writers Krystyna and Phillip Fowler, The God Mind Principles is a truly enlightening book, which if you want, can be the catalyst to change your life if you follow the Rules of Law and the three spiritual seals which are written at the front of this inspiring book.

The aim of the authors is to open your mind to the God Mind Principles which will enable you to live your life in the best possible way, achieving what you wish for, finding inner peace and harmony, experiencing true joy, and learning how to recognise evil when it manifests itself in different ways.

The God Mind Principles discusses all the things and prejudices you will encounter in life, in your dreams, hear reported scientifically, and wonder about, in many different ways. In recognition that everyone is unique and absorbs knowledge differently, the authors emphasise that it is vital that everyone read all the book thoroughly, that way you are ensured of understanding its teachings the way which is easiest for you.

Throughout, the unconditional love offered by the god, goddess, eternal father, eternal mother shines through, and the reader learns of how this love and understanding can be attained through belief, and that although everyone is different this love will unite them all.

When we have finished reading this book we are asked to continue on and read it in reverse from back to front, and in doing so we will discover the keys to open the Book of Journals.

We are asked to keep a daily record of our hopes, desires, goals, and feelings, both good and bad.  Although the authors recognise that this may be difficult at first, we are asked to persevere and assured that through the keeping and reading and re-reading of our hopes, dreams fears etc. and studying them, we will ourselves come to recognise the answers we seek in our writings, and by opening our hearts and minds to the eternal father, eternal mother we will be receptive to their guidance and support throughout our lives.

Somehow inspiring just doesn’t seem enough to encompass this book, but it does sums it up. If you are lost, confused, unhappy, depressed, unsure, indeed in any form of crisis you will not only find this incredible book inspiring but also perhaps the way to your salvation.

Dynomike: Friendsgiving by Frankie B Rabbit

51btmr38cfl-_ac_us160_

This is a lovely story celebrating what Thanksgiving is REALLY about.

You see, everyone in Dynomike’s class is excited, all they can do is talk about food all the time. They can’t wait for the home bell to ring, and love chattering about the tasty things their family enjoy on Thanksgiving Day.

Dynomike listens to them talking about all the delicious treats they are looking forward to on this special holiday, and feels sad. For him, in his house there will be no turkey, pumpkin pies, corn fritters or other lovely treats eat.

He goes very quiet, and his friends wonder what is the matter? So he explains, it’s because it has been a difficult year for his mom, and they haven’t any money to buy lots of lovely food.

At home, all is sad, and then on Thanksgiving night there is a knock at the door.

Who could it be?

His friends arrive with lot of delicious treats for him, and his mum.

And so, in the true spirit of Thanksgiving, they all have a very special dinner, and joining hands around the table Dynomike, with all his special friends, give thanks to the Lord for all he provides. Then afterwards they have lots of fun, and Dynomike is so happy because he has had the best ‘Friendsgiving’ ever.

I downloaded this super rhyming book and read it to my grandsons when they came around. They loved it and can’t wait to read more of Dynomike’s adventures.

About the Author: Frankie B. Rabbit was born and raised underground; the underground rap scene that is. Walking alone through the rough soils of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and now currently in New Jersey; he traveled most of the North East battle rapping other upcoming hip-hop artists at local night clubs to only find himself getting paid in vegetable scraps and free admissions. While, he was winning a majority of his freestyle rap battles, Frankie B. Rabbit was only participating for bonus money to keep his whiskers afloat. Frankie B. Rabbit’s talents were not self-fulfilling for him, and he was seeking to take his talents elsewhere; hopefully to make a difference.

So, while, his rap career was dragging with monotony, he enters, yet another, freestyle rap battle at B.B. Kings in New York City—which ended being his last rap battle after being defeated by an 8 year old second grader in the first round—his name was Dynomike!
“The lyrical niceness, my rhymes so tight I give nightmares to vice grips! This mic is five bucks, this night is five bucks, and Dynomike is — is priceless!” That was only one of the sixteen bars he dropped on Frankie B. Rabbit.

“That kid has some serious lyrics. I was in awe to see someone, especially at his age, have so much passion for something. I said to myself, this kid just gets it. . .” Frankie B. Rabbit’s defeat was more of an enlightenment. This moment, he decided to partner with the young rap phenomena and do something that would be fun, and more importantly make a difference—that’s when Frankie B. Rabbit’s children’s book career began; his defeat against 8 year old Dynomike, was his inspiration to write a series of children’s books–to do something that matters.

About the Book: It’s almost Thanksgiving, and Dynomike’s friends are dreaming of all the delicious foods they’ll be eating. But Dynomike is depressed because he won’t be celebrating with a big feast this year. Just when he thinks his Thanksgiving is ruined, Dynomike gets something to really be thankful for.

It is easy to get caught up in the festivities of Thanksgiving and forget that not everyone is fortunate enough to celebrate. But Dynomike: Friendsgiving reveals how thinking about others at Thanksgiving can give everyone more to be thankful for.

The Jerusalem Inception by Avraham Azrieli

The book begins by setting the scene, it is midnight 1944, and Tanya, a young Jewish girl is in a car with her lover, and saviour, General Klaus Koenig. Klaus Koenig is meeting with his old school friend, and banker Armande Hoffgeitz for the last time, Germany is losing the war and the last of the jewels taken from the victims at the concentration camps must be hidden away safely.

But waiting to ambush the car are Elie and Abraham, renegade Jews, intent in wreaking revenge on the Germans for the monstrosities they are committing.

When Elie and Abraham find Tanya, they allow her to stay with them. Soon she and Abraham fall in love. However their happiness is brief, when Elie returns from a raid alone…

Now we jump forward 21 years, and discover that Abraham did not die, but is instead the very important leader of the Neturay Karta, a fiercely anti-Zionist Orthodox sect in Jerusalem.

Tanya is now a respected Mossad secret agent, but her feelings have never died for the handsome young man she thought she’s lost all those years ago.

Therefore, when she discovers he is alive, she has to meet him. However, he is married now, and has a 17 year old son, Jerusalem, or Lemmy, who is a Talmudic scholar. What’s more Abraham is using his important religious standing for another purpose, doing what he feels he must, in a desperate attempt to prevent a second Holocaust.

The repercussions for Abraham’s family are far reaching, and young Lemmy’s life changes in ways he could never have imagined, causing him to question his Talmudic lessons, and things he always believed were true.

Set in a turbulent, modern Jerusalem, this eye-opener of a book tells the story of three people, all survivors of WWII, and how their survival shaped their lives, and made them determined, in their own different ways, to ensure the horrors inflicted on the Jews would never be repeated again.

This book gives an amazing insight into what it was like to live in Jerusalem during those turbulent times, the differences between the Zionists and anti-Zionists, and a glimpse into the government workings, secrets, and agents behind the scenes. Also, as a non-Jewish reader, I enjoyed learning about the Jewish beliefs, and traditions, and finding out about the motivation and leadership behind such an extreme group as the Neturay Karta.

Woven within its pages are secrets and lies, loves lost and hidden, resentment and betrayal.

This amazing story develops in ways in which the reader would never have imagined, and I thoroughly recommend it to mystery and suspense thriller fans.

About the Author:

51gcvkercll-_ux250_Avraham Azrieli’s new novel, Deborah Rising (Harper Collins, 2016), portrays the dramatic (and unlikely) rise of the first woman to lead a nation in recorded human history. A graduate of Columbia Law School in New York City, Azrieli tried many complex court cases before his first novel, The Masada Complex (a political thriller) was published in 2010. A full-time author since then, his other books include the Israeli spy novels The Jerusalem Inception and The Jerusalem Assassin, as well as Christmas for Joshua (a family drama dealing with interfaith conflicts), The Mormon Candidate (a political thriller), Thump (a courtroom drama featuring sexual harassment and racism) and The Bootstrap Ultimatum (a mystery involving the commercialization of Memorial Day). He also authored Your Lawyer on a Short Leash (a guide to dealing with lawyers) and One Step Ahead – A Mother of Seven Escaping Hitler’s Claws (a WWII biography, which inspired the musical By Wheel and by Wing). Azrieli grew up in Israel, where he received extensive Talmudic education, served as an intelligence officer and, after attending law school, clerked for the Israeli Supreme Court in Jerusalem. Residing primarily in the United States since 1990, he currently lives near Washington DC with his wife and children. Like Ben Teller, the protagonist in The Mormon Candidate, Azrieli often rides his motorcycle in the mountainous forests of western Maryland. To learn more, visit www.AzrieliBooks.com

About the Book: On the eve of the Six Day War, in the divided city of Jerusalem, a young rabbinical scholar falls in love with a beautiful Mossad agent twice his age, breaks off the shackles of religious observance, and volunteers for a dangerous mission that will determine the outcome of the greatest Mideast war. “The Jerusalem Inception is a unique story that will touch your heart.” Frederick Ramsay, Author of Reapers and the Ike Schwartz Mysteries. “The 1967 war continues to dominate the Middle East. If you want to know what really happened (and at the same time fall in love with a striking cast of unforgettable characters) then The Jerusalem Inception is for you. In the best tradition of Eye of the Needle and The Bourne Identity, this one is a hit!” —Stephen J. Wall, author of The Morning After and On the Fly.
