You Cannot Find Peace Until You Find All The Pieces by Marie Maiden

Honest and Inspirational.

You Cannot Find Peace Until You Find All The Pieces

About the book: You Cannot Find Peace Until You Find All The Pieces tells the story of how God through Jesus Christ transformed my life and gave me the strength to overcome a less than desirable childhood, the regrets of becoming a teen mother, anger, immaturity, poor decision making and a really bad attitude.

Review by Susan Keefe:

My first impression when starting this book was one of humility. I take the fact that I know both my parents for granted. The search by this author to know her father has affected her whole life, and lasted 18 years.

The start of her journey was a turbulent one, which she tells frankly, her childhood bad attitude and anger, her pregnancy at 15, her relationships, her struggle for self-improvement, and much more…

All these events, however, were eventually to lead her to the point at which she discovered God. Her honest story continues, as she tells of her salvation through embracing his teachings and love, and how this faith gave her the strength to find out about her father.

Knowing nothing about him, but desperate to learn, she started by discovering her ancestral roots, which went back to slaves who were brought over from the West Indies to work on the plantations of Colonial Virginia. Finding more recent information about him, however, was to prove much harder.

Throughout, there is no attempt by the author, to hide the enormous void, she felt, in her life, by the lack of knowledge about her father.  This book is a tribute to her determination and tenacity against amazing odds, to find him, and it is an inspirational read.

Life-ology 101: If All Else Fails, Smile by Michael Soward

Now released as an Audio Book via the link below.

Thought provoking reflections on life.

This story begins in Arkansas with the nine-year-old Michael, and his younger brother, abandoned by their father, living with their strict grandmother who regularly beats them. The family attend church regularly, he discovers at a young age, he has a gift for playing the organ and it is the beginning of a lifelong love of music.

In 1969,after working hard in the cotton fields, at eighteen he finally ‘escapes’ to live with relatives in Kansas City. Moving to the big city has a profound effect on the young man from the Deep South, especially at such a time of change, the age of drugs, sex and rock and roll had definitely arrived.

The story, which follows, is of one man’s journey, his marriage, fatherhood, hopes, dreams and foibles’. It is frank and honest, brutally so sometimes. He openly talks about his relationship with his father, the driving forces in his life and the leaps of faith, which have made him into the man he is today. Throughout, this book runs a vein of the author’s deep religious belief and his faith in God, the importance of his church and love of music, which has sustained him through times of deep despair.

I have always loved reading memoirs, catching a glimpse into peoples’ lives and discovering the experiences, which have made them the person they are today. This is a very honestly written book, interesting and thought provoking, the journey of a young boy from the Deep South who ends up a father and grandfather living in New York, and all the bits in-between.

Agabus & The Golden Spear by Greg Messina

A lovely children’s story with a very special message.

This is a lovely captivating story, written in rhyme.

As children follow the adventure of Agabus one stormy night, they not only enjoy a great story but also learn how he overcomes his fears and finds inner strength and knowledge.

I thought this was a lovely book, beautifully illustrated by this talented author and I hope Agabus has many more adventures.

BECOMING The Life & Musings of a Girl Poet by Nadia Janice Brown

An inspiring potpourri of observations.

Becoming: The Life & Musings Of A Girl Poet by Nadia Brown

In this lovely poetry book, the author offers the reader an opportunity to take a walk through life, sharing her potpourri of observations.

As I turned the pages, they appeared to be full of little messages reminders and perhaps visions of the future.

It would be hard to pick a favourite but I did love ‘Tomorrow’ with its message of new beginnings and ‘Genesis’.

A bonus for me, were the Articles at the back of the book, which I loved, especially ‘LIVE YOUR DREAM’, which I feel personally, is so important.

A thoroughly enjoyable book!

A Revolution of the Mind: Caught Between Heaven and Hell

A wonderful, educational and inspiring book by Terry Clark.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this inspirational book, which is easy to read and has many lovely accompanying pictures.

I have read the Bible quite a few times, however, I really benefitted from the author’s explanation of the parables and teachings, and gained so much, learning how to understand and accept the natural and supernatural forces, which are at work every day of our lives.

With the help of an Orchid (you’ll have to read the book to find out how), and using the farmer sowing his seeds and reaping the harvest parable regularly, the author help us to discover how, with the right environment and essential elements, we can open our minds to the word of God.

Within these pages, there is so much information about the teachings of the Bible, and how they can be applied to our everyday life. The author shows us how important our dreams and relationships are and throughout the various sections, how to nourish them, recognise what they teach you, and who you should allow to share them.

This book enables us to see the full potential of our imagination, and teaches us that if we follow the author’s guides, the imagination will become a tool, which we can use to aid us in so many ways. You will be amazed at its potential.

In conclusion, this is an incredibly revealing book, which gives the reader so much, if they are only prepared to listen.
