In this fast paced action thriller, Alex, Harry, George and Angela are four teenagers who have been friends for a long time. The summer holidays have arrived and as usual they are all at Harry’s house, however, when George arrives he is clearly agitated, and with good cause, they are soon to discover.

Reluctantly George tells his friends what has happened. His dad, Paul Collier who is a high level executive at Pat Pharma has admitted to him that he is scared. Although the innocent party, he appears to have been the catalyst in events which have escalated out of control, and the only way he can keep his family safe is to send them away for the summer. There has been a murder at work, a colleague has been held for questioning by the police, and now he is being watched, and what’s more, someone seems to be one step ahead of him all the time, and is sending him threatening letters.

On hearing George’s story, Alex, Harry and Angela all decide that they must help Paul discover who is threatening him, and so Alex and George talk to Paul, and with his help Alex manages to get a summer job at Pat Pharma. The job gives Alex inside access to the company, and with his new found ability to gather insider knowledge, and the others using their own unique skills, the group make a formidable team. However, as they rapidly become more involved in the case it is apparent that there is a lot more going on secretly than they could ever have imagined.

In their quest to help Paul the friends uncover deep resentments in Pat Pharma, and as the skeletons begin to come out of the cupboard, they realise that their investigations have put them into a very precarious position, as they find themselves pursued by dangerous criminals.

Despite being on a mission which is fraught with danger the friends’ comradeship, loyalty, tenacity, and friendship shine through, not only to each other, but also to those around them.

This is a truly fantastic adventure thriller which keeps the reader on the edge of their seats. Packed with murder, mystery, and intrigue this story is one that you just cannot put down.

The Jerusalem Inception by Avraham Azrieli

51edhadb6gl-_ac_us160_

The book begins by setting the scene, it is midnight 1944, and Tanya, a young Jewish girl is in a car with her lover, and saviour, General Klaus Koenig. Klaus Koenig is meeting with his old school friend, and banker Armande Hoffgeitz for the last time, Germany is losing the war and the last of the jewels taken from the victims at the concentration camps must be hidden away safely.

But waiting to ambush the car are Elie and Abraham, renegade Jews, intent in wreaking revenge on the Germans for the monstrosities they are committing.

When Elie and Abraham find Tanya, they allow her to stay with them. Soon she and Abraham fall in love. However their happiness is brief, when Elie returns from a raid alone…

Now we jump forward 21 years, and discover that Abraham did not die, but is instead the very important leader of the Neturay Karta, a fiercely anti-Zionist Orthodox sect in Jerusalem.

Tanya is now a respected Mossad secret agent, but her feelings have never died for the handsome young man she thought she’s lost all those years ago.

Therefore, when she discovers he is alive, she has to meet him. However, he is married now, and has a 17 year old son, Jerusalem, or Lemmy, who is a Talmudic scholar. What’s more Abraham is using his important religious standing for another purpose, doing what he feels he must, in a desperate attempt to prevent a second Holocaust.

The repercussions for Abraham’s family are far reaching, and young Lemmy’s life changes in ways he could never have imagined, causing him to question his Talmudic lessons, and things he always believed were true.

Set in a turbulent, modern Jerusalem, this eye-opener of a book tells the story of three people, all survivors of WWII, and how their survival shaped their lives, and made them determined, in their own different ways, to ensure the horrors inflicted on the Jews would never be repeated again.

This book gives an amazing insight into what it was like to live in Jerusalem during those turbulent times, the differences between the Zionists and anti-Zionists, and a glimpse into the government workings, secrets, and agents behind the scenes. Also, as a non-Jewish reader, I enjoyed learning about the Jewish beliefs, and traditions, and finding out about the motivation and leadership behind such an extreme group as the Neturay Karta.

Woven within its pages are secrets and lies, loves lost and hidden, resentment and betrayal.

This amazing story develops in ways in which the reader would never have imagined, and I thoroughly recommend it to mystery and suspense thriller fans.

About the Author:

51gcvkercll-_ux250_Avraham Azrieli’s new novel, Deborah Rising (Harper Collins, 2016), portrays the dramatic (and unlikely) rise of the first woman to lead a nation in recorded human history. A graduate of Columbia Law School in New York City, Azrieli tried many complex court cases before his first novel, The Masada Complex (a political thriller) was published in 2010. A full-time author since then, his other books include the Israeli spy novels The Jerusalem Inception and The Jerusalem Assassin, as well as Christmas for Joshua (a family drama dealing with interfaith conflicts), The Mormon Candidate (a political thriller), Thump (a courtroom drama featuring sexual harassment and racism) and The Bootstrap Ultimatum (a mystery involving the commercialization of Memorial Day). He also authored Your Lawyer on a Short Leash (a guide to dealing with lawyers) and One Step Ahead – A Mother of Seven Escaping Hitler’s Claws (a WWII biography, which inspired the musical By Wheel and by Wing). Azrieli grew up in Israel, where he received extensive Talmudic education, served as an intelligence officer and, after attending law school, clerked for the Israeli Supreme Court in Jerusalem. Residing primarily in the United States since 1990, he currently lives near Washington DC with his wife and children. About the Book: On the eve of the Six Day War, in the divided city of Jerusalem, a young rabbinical scholar falls in love with a beautiful Mossad agent twice his age, breaks off the shackles of religious observance, and volunteers for a dangerous mission that will determine the outcome of the greatest Mideast war. “The Jerusalem Inception is a unique story that will touch your heart.” Frederick Ramsay, Author of Reapers and the Ike Schwartz Mysteries. “The 1967 war continues to dominate the Middle East. If you want to know what really happened (and at the same time fall in love with a striking cast of unforgettable characters) then The Jerusalem Inception is for you. In the best tradition of Eye of the Needle and The Bourne Identity, this one is a hit!” —Stephen J. Wall, author of The Morning After and On the Fly.

51yemg1czl-_ac_us160_

Grant Frederickson is a man destroyed, he has lost his beloved wife, and now is targeted by Houston gangster Arturo Torres, hounded for debts he cannot pay. With the world on his shoulders, and Rudy, Torres’ henchman watching him all the time, there is no escaping the corner he has got himself into, but what does he care, he has nothing to live for…

Then, just when he is at his lowest, resigned to his fate, a young woman called Maddy jumps into his car, and beseeches him for help. She is fleeing from pursuers who she calls ‘Blank Men,’ men who are determined to capture her.

Suddenly, his problems take a back seat as he finds himself protecting her. But who is this Maddy, this mysterious young woman with a hidden past and incredible abilities, and why are the Blank Men hunting her?

Soon he finds his life inextricably entwined with hers, and can’t help but ask himself more and more, was their meeting really coincidental, or was it destiny? As their flight leads them to New Orleans he wonders, will they find answers there?

Cries of the Eagle By Michael E. Nathanson

5158pontrsl-_ac_us160_

As a non-Muslim I found this a fascinating story, as it opens your eyes not only to a different religion, but also its beliefs and teachings, however this story is so much more, it is a powerful story of murder, betrayal, secrets and lies, which when uncovered expose horrendous truths…

Ali and Hajid, are a devout Muslim couple who left their homeland of Iran in the 1980’s to start a better life in America. They settled in Dearborn, Michigan, and soon after had a son Ibrahim. They worked hard at bringing him up in the faith, and live a good life in their Muslim community. As parents they were happy to watch him stand on his own two feet, and accept that he is naturally growing away from them as he moves to Texas as part of his Qu’ran studies. However, the friends and mentors Ibrahim chooses once there lead him down a dark path, one which shapes his destiny forever.

Through the ages it has become accepted that most religions have a fanatical side, radical groups with one aim only, to ensure that in time, their religion is the only one which survives. With the threat of terrorism and fear of racism so very much a part of our modern world, the author has skillfully weaved his magic to write this story. Although fictional, it is easy to see it being true, indeed as I write this there are horrors being committed in the name of religion every day.

Mostly we base our views on ‘hearsay’ or newspaper headlines, tarring everyone with the same brush, and in our fear persecuting the innocent. Fascinatingly, this book reveals how the lives of an ordinary family, devoutly following their Muslim faith, can become inextricably entwined with the fanatical counter elements of the religion they follow, without their knowledge.

However, this story is not just about Muslim beliefs, it is an intriguing, action packed thriller. As the storyline unfolds we follow the investigations of Special Agent Gerry Bolton and Agent Jan Hanson of the FBI, and soon discover that nothing is as it seems…

In my opinion this is an exceptional book, and a real eye-opener. Not only is it an absorbing story but it has given me a real insight into a world I knew nothing about. If I could give it 6 stars, I would!

About the author:

New York born and California raised, Michael E. Nathanson comes from a family of writers (his father is well known for his book THE DIRTY DOZEN), and has held a lifelong dream of one day weaving a good story that also points to hope and light in a darkened world.

Prior to committing to being a writer, Michael has served as National Sales Manager for a medical products company in the healthcare industry, as Regional Sales Manager for a consumer product manufacturing company catering to mass retail markets, as VP of Sales for another consumer product manufacturing company catering to mass retail markets, and spent 15 years as CEO and partner in a privately held promotional marketing company.

During a business trip in the 1980s he traveled to an Arab Muslim country and became fascinated with Islamic religious culture, worldview and the repressive social system there. After 2001 his interest increased, in not only the politics of Islam, but also terrorists, terrorism and its mindset.

Michael believes ‘there is a segment of the Muslim population that is radicalized and very dangerous to the world, yet we cannot forget that it is just a segment of a very large religious population. That population still needs to be represented by positive heroes. I want the reader of my book to meet some rich characters and also hear a clear gospel message of hope and love that our world so desperately needs today.’

“Cries of the Eagle” is Michael E. Nathanson’s first novel. He lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife, Jan, and they joyfully serve together in the marriage ministry at their church – Marriage Counseling and Reconciliation Counseling. They have three grown children and are expecting their first grandchild in 2017.

About the book:

A devastating explosion leaves a wake of death and destruction in a suburban Dallas high school. Senior Agent Gerry Bolton and Special Agent Jan Hanson of the Dallas FBI take on the case of the apparent bombing, with little to go on. No manifesto has been revealed to declare the perpetrator’s identity or rationale, although terrorism is suspected. A later grotesque crime adds a further burden of urgency to the FBI’s efforts. Aziz Malawi, a bright young Muslim engineer, is puzzled by a friend and coworker’s failure to return to work from his vacation. He decides to check on him at his apartment. What he discovers sends him to the police, where he is immediately viewed as highly suspicious, is interrogated, and subsequently bumped up to the FBI for further scrutiny. It becomes clear to the FBI that Aziz is not a person of interest in the bombing crime, but quite the opposite – a devout American patriot, and a Muslim, who detests terrorism and terrorists. He entreats the FBI to allow him to become an active part of their investigation, which stretches from Dallas, Texas to Dearborn Michigan.Aziz joins the hunt for the loose thread that will ultimately unravel the fabric of a crime with a much deeper meaning and far-reaching impact than ever imagined. His sleuthing draws him into a world of danger that challenges his every resource and that of his FBI handlers who are sworn to protect him. As pieces of the greater puzzle begin to fit together, a grieving father, deeply struck by the tragedy of the crime surrounding his son’s death receives new hope, through an extraordinary gift brought to him by an unexpected benefactor. He must first confront himself, and stare down the evil that took his son and threatened to destroy his family in the process. After a business career, Michael Nathanson decided to undertake writing his first novel, “Cries of the Eagle,” fulfilling a life-long ambition. Coming from a family of writers, Nathanson dreamed of one day telling a story himself, one that could possibly also point to light and hope in the process. He lives in Texas with his wife, Jan, and they serve together in the marriage ministry at their church.

‘Til The End: A Novel of Murder, Addiction, and Lies by Joseph Patrick 33

41ZhwlRnpQL._AC_US174_

Some great friendships are forged in our youth especially in team sports. The stories of four friends are told in this book which is set in Detroit, between 1988 and 1993.

Ryan, Tyler, Jacob and Avery are high school football stars, young men with a future, looking forward to fame, fortune, money and success. High spirited and with the world at their feet, they have their dreams of fame and fortune, and the world in their pockets, so to speak.

Suddenly however all this alters when something happened one night, a horrific event which changes everything. They must protect each other, and so they make a pact, their secret can never be revealed…

When something like this occurs, it can’t help but change the people involved, life will never be the same, but it must go on and everyone must deal with it in their own unique way.

As they struggle to keep the secret, each day wondering if it will surface, the boys search for escapism in the usual ways, and alienate the ones they love. Involvement in the worlds of drugs and drink, the untimely death of two of them, and abuse tear them apart. This is a very interesting read.

Perhaps it should be used as an example, or reminder that life is not a video game, you can’t reset the screen or reload the game, once something is done, it cannot be undone – you must live with the consequences for life, the buck stops with you!

About the Author:

Joseph Patrick33 is a Michigan author who grew up in Shelby Township. He has 11 years of higher education earning degrees at the bachelors, masters and doctorate level. The creative aspects of ‘Til The End were sparked by personal interests of subject matter that not only intrigues, but seems to find its way into the vast majority of our lives. In addition to the struggles of real life, Joseph Patrick33 wanted to capture the essence of unpredictable fate. Although most of the characters are jaded, he believes you will find little pieces of them within us all. No matter how your mind perceives this book, always know that even within fiction there can be true meaning. A special thanks to Dennis Lowery. His professionalism and input were instrumental in making this book true to form. Visit the Joseph Patrick33 website at http://www.tiltheend.net

About the Book:  Ryan, Tyler, Avery and Jacob are high school football stars. Everyone looks up to them. They’re living the life that young boys and men dream of and are right at the point of having it all: a state championship, college paid for, a chance for big money and even more glory in the NFL. It’s all there in front of them; the future they and everyone expects. Then something happens that could bring it all crashing down. And they can’t tell the truth because it’s even worse than having to keep the secret for the rest of their lives. They make a pact to cover it up and never tell. Hiding the truth fuels their escalating addictions and pushes them in different directions as they try to erase the past, deal with the present and hope for the future. But at some point, in some way, there’s alway a price paid for lies told.

She Bites by Roger Arsht and Caitlin Hawker

9781480822214_p0_v1_s192x300

A fast paced psychological murder, mystery.

Being an animal lover I immediately warmed to the lead character in this fast paced psychological murder mystery, what a woman! However I have to say at the beginning that this is no soppy animal story, it enters the horrific dog fighting world and some of the scenes and stories in it are very graphically written.

Robyn is a veterinarian, passionate about animals and angered and appalled at the poor dogs who are bought in to her, maimed and worse, sometimes by the perpetrators of the crime. Vile characters with no compassion, or thought for life, either human or animal. However the face she puts on at the surgery is a mask. Behind it lies another Robyn a woman whose past has made her the way she is, angry, deadly, passionate and vengeful.

Jack Williams is a police detective who has been put on leave following a horrific case. He has no memory of the details, the event was so traumatic that for his sanity his brain has blocking it out.

Then there is Lizzie, the Corgi, Jacks therapy dog who he takes to Robyn’s surgery for treatment.

As the friendship between Jack and Robyn develops he soon realises that she has a hidden side, one which she can’t always control – sometimes it comes to the surface, and when it does…

The characters both major and minor are very well written. From the colourful and haughty Ms. Smyth-Anders, to poor Doctor Oliver, a therapist with his own problems. As the story evolves we witness the day to day life at the veterinary surgery and police station, and behind the scenes in the shady world of dog fighting.

This book is like no other I have read, in some parts fascinating in a horrific way, yet there is also compassion and love. The plot is very cleverly written by its two talented authors and contains some very clever twists. Definitely for the reader who wants something different and very fast paced.

Authors Biographies:

she bites

Roger Arsht – Roger Arsht is a mild-mannered high school English teacher by day, but dons his writerly cloak after class and pens the darker side of life. His noir thrillers ask some hard questions about corruption and violence in the world, and what to do about it (which sometimes involves evil veterinarians gone vigilante.)

Knowing his work needed a darker element, he contacted a former student of his who was loaded with talent, but also horrified him with her scary stories. Caitlin Hawker stepped up to the job and a collaboration was born.
When he’s not writing or hanging out in high school (his favorite place to be), Roger loves to fish, golf, travel and cook, not necessarily in that order. He and He and his wife have two grown sons, and live in Park City, Utah with their Golden Retriever rescue dog, Pumpkin.

Caitlin Hawker – Caitlin Hawker is a self-described “dark” persona who loves horror movies and the study of humanity’s darker side. As a child, it took her a while to learn to read and write, until her dad described to her that letters were pictures, and then suddenly it all made sense. Now a prolific writer, she began penning noir fiction in high school, in typical dark, brooding teenager fashion, which scared her teachers. What was a hobby later turned into a career when Roger Arsht walked into the college bookstore where she was working and asked her to help him write a book.

When she isn’t writing, she makes costumes and dabbles in art. Caitlin is a connoisseur of all things weird, and loves to collect facts.

She and her husband live in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Caitlin is planning for the day when she can get a dog.

About the book:

Salt Lake City, Utah – Co-Authors Roger Arsht and Caitlin Hawker team together to tackle the horrors of dog fighting in She Bites, a page-turning noir thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

Robyn Sparks may be every animal-lover’s favorite vigilante. Compassionate veterinarian by day, she’s converts to animal activist at night and exacts punishment to the cruel men whose animals find their way across her surgical table in various conditions of burnt, broken, and bloody. Having seen enough, Sparks decides to make it stop. For good.

As the grizzly death toll grows, the murders are carries out in unspeakable ways, egged on by the powers of the social media.

The author has paid great attention to detail, which makes this book not for the faint hearted. It has a gripping storyline, great characters, incredible attention to detail, and a plot which will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

Although part of a series, the Detective Max Larkin crime thrillers can all happily stand alone.

I thoroughly enjoyed this no-holes-barred, exciting psychological thriller and would like to highly recommend it.

Miss Me? (Max Larkin Detective Series Book 3) by Todd M. Thiede

51ywQSQr2mL__AA160_

In this action packed story, Detectives Max Larkin and Jesse Fairlane are looking for a man who has raped and murdered.

However, they soon find themselves teamed up with FBI Agent Timothy Michaels, who informs them that the man they are looking for has in fact been raping women for a decade. Despite the best efforts of the law enforcement agencies, and incredibly, the fact that he makes no effort to hide his DNA, he is still at large!

What’s more, the rapist insist on ‘marrying’ his victim before he carries out the act. Why is this? What reasoning for this lies within his twisted mind?

This book is a real action packed page turner, full of excitement and mystery. The tension escalates as you go through the book, following the attempts of the detectives and the FBI agent in tracking down the culprit.

The author has yet again combined all the essential ingredients for a really great crime thriller, a gripping plot, great characters, and I have to say, without spoiling it for readers, that the storyline has a fantastic twist at the end!

This is the third book in the Max Larkin, Detective crime thriller series and having thoroughly enjoyed the first two I couldn’t wait to start reading this one. I have to say although part of a series it stands alone perfectly as well, although I can guarantee that after it, you will want to read the rest!

Rampage: A Jason Scarsdale Novel by Alan Brenham

51NSo8UpPfL__SX331_BO1,204,203,200_

NEW RELEASE – Another superb masterpiece from Alan Brenham.

Set in Austin, Texas, this story begins with Justin Wayne Cooper a.k.a. Mad Dog, repaying a debt by destroying a grave in the Heavenly Garden Memorial Park. Waiting in the car are Rastaman, and Runt. Fresh out of prison Mad Dog is on a mission to right some wrongs done to Snake, his cellmate. Impressed by his prison tales and hardness, the other two have become willing accomplices. At first it’s all a game, a good laugh, an opportunity to get some ready cash, but then the stakes get higher, and when the killings begin, they suddenly realise how Justin got his nickname…

In Alan Brenham’s first book, Price of Justice, we met widower, Detective Jason Scarsdale, his daughter Shannon and Dani Mueller. After the events in that book ex Austin PD Crime Analyst Dani moved back home to her family in Garmisch, Germany. However, three years on, Jason and Dani still have a very strong transcontinental relationship, and very soon Shannon and Jason are due to visit Dani and celebrate Shannon’s birthday at the same time.

However the holiday isn’t here yet and arriving at work, Jason, who has transferred back to Homicide from the Sex Crimes division, is called into his superior’s office and informed by Sargent Kipfer, that he has a new partner, a very attractive divorcee called Tatum Harper.

Soon a reluctant Jason, and his new chatty and very keen partner are trying to discover who the reckless killers are, and what links the crimes together. Whilst in the background, Jason’s relationship with Dani has taken a strange turn which gives the story an intriguing subplot.

Despite the clues and evidence coming together, nothing will stick, the death toll is rising. Who is the mysterious MD?

If you like reading crime thrillers then you will love Rampage. They say write about what you know and this action-packed plot has been very cleverly written, and has the great attention to detail I have come to expect from Alan Brenham. With his lifetimes experience as a Texas law enforcement officer, criminal prosecutor and defense attorney, the author’s in-depth knowledge, and understanding in these fields enables him to take his lucky readers on an unforgettable journey into the dark criminal underworld, its chilling inhabitants and the people who protect us from them.

About the Author: Alan Brenham is the pen name of Alan Behr, a Texas criminal law attorney and former law enforcement officer.

His first crime novel, Price of Justice, won several awards including best in police/crime fiction. A second novel, Cornered, was released by Black Opal Books on Amazon on July 13, 2014 in print format. A third novel, titled Rampage, is expected to be released on July 4, 2015. He’s writing his fourth and fifth novels, with more to come.

He was born in upstate New York, in the small Catskill Mountains town of Delhi. He worked as a Texas law enforcement officer for over seventeen years and as a criminal prosecutor and later criminal defense attorney for over twenty-five years. Today he lives in the Austin, Texas, area with his wife, Lillian.

About the Book: The stakes soar, both professionally and personally, for Austin PD Detective Jason Scarsdale as he finds himself in a race against time to hunt down a vicious gang hell-bent on murder. Realizing that his new partner, the attractive divorcee Tatum Harper, could be trouble in more ways than one, he tries to run her out of Homicide. Will their partnership destroy his romantic relationship with long-time girlfriend Dani Mueller? Will they both survive the harrowing face-off with the increasingly unhinged gang leader?
