Adventures of Sammy the Dalmatian and Friends by D.C. Rush

51IgsSff3TL__AA160_A wonderful story for children.

This is an enchanting story about three dogs who live in Sun City a retirement community. Sammy is a Dalmatian, who is a Fire Department retired Lead Fire Dog, Mason is a great big Rottweiler who’s really a big softie, and then there’s Jewel a beautiful Golden Retriever who when she’s not playing dutifully protects her family’s house.

The dogs are great friends and meet up regularly, so when Mason doesn’t arrive one day, the others go round to his house to see where he is.

But he’s not there! Eventually, he arrives, panting and very tired. He tells his friends he has been through a terrible ordeal, he has been dognapped, but he managed to escape. After Mason reveals that in the big barn he was taken to there were other dogs in cages, Sammy and Jewel leave him to recover and set out see if they can discover where he was held.

When they find the place they report back to Mason and together the three friends hatch a clever plan. However, for it to succeed they need some help from Sammy’s son, Siren, the new Lead Fire Dog, and one of Sammy’s oldest and dearest friend a calico cat called Peaches.

Will their plan succeed?

Will the terrible dognappers be caught?

To discover the plan and find out what happens, you will have to read the book.

Many children love animals and for me an added bonus to the books by this author is the way the characters of the animals and birds involved shine through. The distinctive personalities of the different dog breeds are so good in this book, as are the bird types in the Robby’s Quest series, and the cats in Hershey Learns a Lesson.

Yet again D. C. Rush has written a wonderful, gentle story for children which teaches them the difference between right and wrong in an easily understood way, and it is beautifully illustrated by the very talented Daniela Frongia.

About the Authors: We actually began writing our first children’s book about 2 years ago. Cathy and I would often sit outside watching the birds. We fed the birds daily. They were very clever and fun to watch, especially when the little birds kicked seed to the ground for the larger birds. It seemed the birds had some group structure and displayed very effective teamwork. We thought it would be interesting to write a book about birds flying south for the winter.

The finished book sat on our computer hard drive for over a year before my brother and sister-in-law convinced us to self-publishing. I never thought we would actually publish our work. However, the birth of our grandson Rylie gave us some added incentive to get the book out there, and we decided to dedicate the book to him. We thought it would be nice to leave something behind for our children and their children. So we had the book proofed, edited, illustrated then self-published it ourselves at Amazon.com.

Cathy and Don currently live in Arizona with their cats, Nomi and Hershey. Cathy is a homemaker and Don is a retired Manufacturing Manager and former Elementary School Governing Board Member.

About the Book: Sammy the Dalmatian is a retired, highly decorated Fire Dog. Sammy and his two best friends; Jewel a Golden Retriever and Mason a Rottweiler, live close together in Sun City, a retirement community in beautiful Arizona. Every day, like clockwork, the three dogs get together to have some fun and reminisce about the old times.

When Mason fails to show up one day, Sammy and Jewel go on an adventure that will take them on a hunt for two very bad men living near their community. It will take a great deal of courage to bring down these Dognappers, but all three dogs, along with their loyal friends and family, are willing to risk everything.

About Nina Carothers: Nina Carothers, author of The Color Olors, first thought of the Color Olors back in 1993. Having 4 children of her own she realized there were so many lessons, in a fun way without realizing it, that a child could learn from her books. She decided to set the Color Olors aside in lieu of raising her family. Now, 20 years later she brings the Color Olors to life with the help of her illustrator, Chris Padovano.
As you read The Color Olors stories you will find, lessons and values within her books. They are both memorable and inspirational. Many books in the Color Olors series have been inspired by Nina’s own life experiences such as The book of Red Ed and The True Meaning of Christmas. This book comes from a Christmas that Nina shared with two of her children not long ago. The book of Silver Ilver and the Cleft Palate Puppy is a true story of Nina’s own cleft palate puppy and is told in a bibbidi bobbidi boo way.
Nina currently resides in Tarpon Springs, Florida with her youngest child still at home. She is blessed with 5 little grand babies that she calls her lovies. She hopes that you enjoy her stories, told from the heart, for many years to come. With a world of color out there is no telling how many books Nina will write.

When Silver Ilver realises that one of the puppies in her dog Princess’s litter is unwell she knows that she must look after it, but what should she do?

Well, with the help of her special book and a prayer she sets about feeding the little puppy, however she soon she realises there is something really wrong with this little fellow.

A trip to the puppy doctor gives her the answer, the puppy has a cleft palate and the doctor warns her that the outlook is bleak.

However, Silver Ilver refuses to give up on the little one and names him Zeus. She searches for ways to make him well and discovers there is another puppy, called Mia, who has a cleft palate too, and she’s owned by a lovely lady called Sue.

With help and guidance from the friendly Sue, soon Zeus is getting on fine and acting just like any other puppy, getting into all sorts of mischief.

The author has written a lovely, inspirational story and the book has been beautifully illustrated by Chris Padovano. It conveys wonderfully the very special message, that animals born with birth defects deserve a chance at a life too.

A portion of the proceeds of this book benefit The Mia Foundation. Yes, it’s not a fairytale – The Mia Foundation is real, and Sue and her helpers work tirelessly every day to rescue, care for and help dogs with all sorts of problems, and it all began with a little dog called Mia…

Ladoo Dog: Tales of a Sweet Dachshund by Aneeta Sundararaj

A book for every dog lover.

About the book: What makes dachshunds special? Can a dog be considered ‘Indian’ or ‘Chinese’? Do dachshunds have temper tantrums? These are some of the themes in the 12 stories about Ladoo, a dachshund with a big heart. This collection of entertaining stories will make you laugh and you will certainly appreciate dachshunds even more.

Review by Susan Keefe

Being a dog lover and knowing a little about Aneeta and her love for Ladoo, I just could not wait to read this book and as soon as it arrived, I just couldn’t put it down.

My family and I have had various breeds of dogs over the years; each loved tremendously including the long bodied Basset Hound but never a Dachshund. Man has over the centuries, through selective breeding changed the shape of dogs to suit particular roles and it was very interesting to learn more about this wonderful breed.

That Aneeta and Ladoo shared a very special bond is obvious, and the story of how these two souls became one, sharing their life together is lovely to read. The chapters enable the reader to see snippets of their lives, and appreciate this bond whilst learning a little about culture and life in Malaysia.

The phrase ‘They were made for each other’ is quite commonly used; however, you only have to read this book to see a true example. Ladoo was a wonderful dog who not only gave herself heart and soul to Aneeta [and received the same in return] but also touched the souls of many other people with her amazing character.

I would recommend this book to any animal lover, it will make you laugh, it will make you cry, but afterwards it will also leave you with the knowledge that you have been allowed a glimpse into this really special relationship.

About Aneeta Sundaraj: Aneeta Sundararaj is a published author and established writer for magazines, newspapers and journals. She lives in Malaysia and adores her pet dachshund, Ladoo.

Written by a new American writer, this book tells the tale of Omar Blue a Blue Doberman and his pack.
When Omar Blue decides to settle down, he picks a place and names it K-9 Town, U.S.A.
With his best friend Major Diggs, a Lab-Dalmatian cross and the pack of about 50 assorted breeds of dog they build a community with true pack spirit, teaching their puppies right from wrong, protecting each other and building relationships.
This book, cleverly written in rhyme, is so easy to read, and each chapter teaches different values to its readers, through the adventures of the various dogs.
As a dog lover it was great for me to see the different characters, and traits of the various breed types portrayed in the stories.

I can’t wait to read book 2, “Led By An Eagle,” which has recently been released on Kindle ebooks.

Sell the Pig by Tottie Limejuice

I loved this book!

Sell the Pig

As soon as I started reading the foreword, I knew I was going to love this book.

Many books have been written about people’s new lives in France, but not so many about the upheaval and organisation the move takes, without the added complication of a problematic brother and a very elderly mother.

Tottie narrates the tale brilliantly with her forthright descriptions – no holds barred of her family, other people, and the events, which made them decide to move to France. Then, once the decision is made, she takes you with her as she overcomes the obstacles necessary to make it happen.

You can laugh, cry and despair with her throughout the pages of this fantastic book as she organises everything and one, with the support of a good friend and of course her beloved Border Collie Meic.
