truly outstanding comprehensive guide to men’s health and wellbeing.
This book really is a comprehensive guide about men’s health
and wellbeing. The author, Dr. Judson Brandeis, is a graduate of the Brown
University, Vanderbilt Medical School, UCLA Urology residency, and is a Harvard
researcher. He specialises in the emergent field of men’s sexual health and rejuvenative
medicine and was voted best urologist in the SF Bay Area for a decade.
This book aims to give its readers the best information
possible over the vast range of subjects covered in its fourteen parts, which
are then divided again into specialist areas. In order to provide the most up
to date and well researched information available, he has called upon
additional doctors, experts in healthcare, and other professionals.
In the introduction it is suggested that readers browse
through the contents and pick out the parts which a relevant to them first. These
parts begin with ‘The Journey’ where the author emphasises that each man’s
journey is unique irrespective of race or creed. The book then investigates, in
depth the things we can all do to help ourselves prevent health problems, there’s
also advice from specialists, and information on food and exercise.
Next, the author acknowledges that quality of life is very
important, and this is comprehensively covered as well. Looking good, mental
health, sexual healing, and relationships are all affected by health problems,
and the strain of them on both the sufferer and their partners can be severe,
sometimes resulting in depression and other illnesses. We all want a good
quality of life, and now you can find out how to achieve it.
One thing I personally loved about this book is that although
it is written about men’s health, the author covers very well in ‘Relationship
Skills, how the differences in womens bodies and their functioning both
mentally and physically can affect a relationship. Helpfully this book offers
advice to men about dealing with these issues.
My late husband suffered erectile disfunction even before we
married, and in a loving relationship it can be overcome. However, I know first-hand
how distressing it can be for men, and how embarrassing it is for them to seek
help on such a personal subject.
I applaud Dr. Judson Brandeis for not only writing this excellent book and finding such wonderful contributors, but also for covering a difficult subject so comprehensively, and from so many angles. Very highly recommended!

Covenants (the word also
means treaty) are the ways God has used to reveal himself to us throughout
history. This book gives a fascinating in depth insight into the scriptures, explaining
how the name of God has changed, and why. Including how YHWH evolved into Yahweh,
and why, and the reason why the author has chosen the name Jehovah for God, in
subsequent chapters of the book.
Throughout the book, in
learning about ‘The Covenant Names of God,’ the readers, through the authors
excellent and detailed explanations, can re-equant themselves with the words
and actions of biblical characters and discover, then understand God’s
relationship with them. The chapters each begin with Jehovah followed by
another word, which actually means a phrase. This phrase is explained by the
author, as are the actions between God and his chosen one at that particular
biblical time. which led to the particular Covenant Name.
In these modern troubled
times, most of us can recall stories from the bible and the main characters. However,
as we strive for more material assets, or to climb the work/property ladder, these
stories tend to go to the back of our mind, and can seem irrelevant to modern
life. Yet, this author reveals this is not true. In this easy to read book, we
learn how God has tried the biblical characters of the bible, setting them
sometimes heart-breaking and seemingly impossible tasks, and yet they are
achieved. We read of miracles, not only in the bible, but those he has
personally witnessed in his working career, these examples show that there are
parallels with the biblical and modern times. Richard Sones demonstrates to us
that the hand of God is with us every day, his will and compassion there for
those who seek it.
The author has a Master’s degree in Divinity, and was a chaplain the US army for nearly twenty-eight years. He is now a hospital chaplain, and the pastor of a Baptist church in El Paso, Texas. He has authored many books, on a wide range of subject, and has the ability to make difficult and sometimes complex subject matters easy to understand. In this, his latest book, ‘The Covenant Names of God,’ the author has not only revealed ‘The Covenant Names of God,’ to those of us who did not know them, but he also holds a torch of hope to those who will listen to the word of God.
About the Book:
The name known to Abraham and formally given to Moses, YHVH, is associated with eight names throughout scripture. This book looks at each in-depth, beginning with the background story and the Biblical character first associated with the name. The meaning behind each name is also explored, along with its inspirational implication for the reader’s spiritual life. Additionally, the book shows how the names reveal the nature of God and endure through New Testament writings, especially their fulfillment in the person and nature of Christ. As each chapter reveals a unique name, we learn more and more about the nature and compassion of God, and we, in turn, will gain a deeper appreciation for our Lord. Finally, the principles revealed through the covenant names of God demonstrate his unwavering compassion and faithfulness to us.
Kenny G. Down, the author of this insightful little book has
given his readers within its pages not only hope and inspiration, but also a
simple blueprint which will empower them to embark on the road to spiritual
awakening. Through his books, and his website (newthoughtlife. org,) his
readers quickly realise that the author is a self-motivated man who has drawn
upon his own experiences, both recovering from addiction, and of helping others,
to write this book.
Intentionally written in a brief booklet style, this incredibly
motivational book, empowers its readers. Kenny G. Down knows the struggles they
will/are facing, he’s been there too. Even in the title he conveys his
understanding, how? Because The Mirror, the Window, and the Wall are analogies
for our coping mechanisms to deal with these battles. Struggles bought about by
our modern world where there are so many ideals to live up to, pressures to
look and act a certain way, to have a good job, own a nice house in a good
location, the list goes on and on…
Mentally, the biggest hurdles in life we have to live up to
are the self-set, and perceived ideas we all have, intentionally and
unintentionally set upon us by ourselves and others. Through this book, the
author encourages us to look within ourselves, ask ourselves what do we want?
Are we overwhelmed by the pressures heaped upon us? Are we ready for spiritual
awakening? If the answer is yes to these questions, then take the author’s hand
and let him guide you, give you strength, and help you find the fortitude to
unleash the spiritual you, and awaken your soul.
As well as revealing The Mirror, the Window, and the Wall’s
in our lives, and how we use them, the author also urges us to incorporate
seven actions into our daily lives. In doing these actions, reading, writing,
meditation, sharing the experience with others, and reading ‘Darlene’s Prayer,’
(Which is in the book,) throughout the day, the author’s words and experience
will help and inspire you on your unique path.
Kenny G. Down lives in Seattle, Washington USA. He is not
only an author, whose other works include Darko: The Sacred Heart of One
Johanee Darko, but also writes poetry, short stories, blogs and vlogs.
This book is, in my opinion, much needed in this modern world of stress and enforced expectations. Through the words and wisdom of this experienced author, those searching for spiritual awakening will find the path to inner peace.
Kenny’s latest book, Darko, addresses the world’s need for a Joan of Arc for current times. Johanee Darko of New Orleans is that person. She is a modern-day Saint, possessing the solution to the ugly issues surrounding sexism, racism, bigotry, homophobia, and xenophobia. Through her public speeches and teachings Johanee Darko leads the Sacred Hearted movement, heals the world, and brings about the Coming Together Time.
In his previous work, after thirty years of being deeply involved in recovery from addiction and helping many others to make their bed and walk again, Kenny shares his personal wisdom and experience in Awakened Giant / Sleeping Spirit and through his writings and videos shared on his authors page (newthoughtlife.org).
Although much of the storyline in Awakened Giant, Sleeping Spirit is based on his own trials while learning to “wake up.” Many of the spiritual principles highlighted in this book and expanded on through his other writings are drawn from universal truths compiled together for a simple message of hope to those suffering and those whom have experienced a new way of life.
Kenny lives in Seattle, Washington USA where he has spent most of his life. He is a man that genuinely understands what it means to wake up the Sleeping Spirit and allow the Awakened Giant to appear. His other writings including a book on relationships “The Care and Keeping of a Shan” also available right here on Amazon.
Visit newthoughtlife.org for many more of his writings, lessons, blogs and vlogs.
When he’s not writing he may be found spending time with his most valued treasure—his family; his wife Shannon of over twenty-two-years “The Beautiful and Wonderful Shan” and his two adult children son Jake and daughter Jessica.
Today, his main goal as an author is to help us find solutions to the problems in our lives through the application of spiritual principles and how spiritual principles have practical application in todays social justice movements.
Scott A. Shay, was one of the founders of the Signature Bank in 2001. He is the author of two successful books,’ In Good Faith: Questioning Religion and Atheism,’ which won a finalists award from National Jewish Books, and ‘Getting Our Grove Back: How to Energize American Jewry.’ He is a successful businessman who is happy to give talks, and be interviewed, on radio, TV, and podcasts.
As soon as you start reading this exposé, you can tell it is
written from the heart. The author himself admits it was difficult to write.
Originally an article to commemorate his father’s liberation from the Nazi
concentration camp Dachau, the paper quickly grew until he realised that it
must become a book. During the horrendous atrocities of the holocaust, Scott A.
Shay lost his grandfather, aunts, uncles, and many other relatives to the Nazi
murders, knowing this makes it is easy to understand the passion in his
He begins the book by expanding his readers understanding of
the definition, and history, of conspiracy theories. He explains how by
allowing conspiracy theories and extremist propaganda, the Golden Rule of his beloved alma mater
(Northwestern,) and society, which requires individuals or groups to be treated
equally as human beings, and also for accusation to be investigated thoroughly,
has been undermined. Whilst studying
there he was targeted with Nazi propaganda, and to his dismay then learned that
this was something the university were unwilling to do anything about. He then
discovered that conspiracy theories abound, and what’s more, the writings on
Zionists, by esteemed scholars, experts in their respective fields, Arthur Butz
and Steven Thrasher, were also indicative of conspiracy theories. They
described Zionism as “a malignant conspiracy intended to harm other peoples
through the use of covert, dishonest, manipulative, and/or violent means.” Whereas
in reality “Zionism is simply the expression of the Jewish people’s right to
national self-determination in their ancestral homeland, the right to their own
state.” Yet the Jewish people have fought and been persecuted throughout
history in their attempt to attain it.
The depth of research which has gone into this book is
astounding. The author really gives the non-Jewish reader an insight into the
battles the Jewish people have endured over the centuries, and the strength of
their religious belief to sustain their faith against adversity. I found this
book extremely thought-provoking, and my eyes were truly opened to the politics
of the far-right and far-left in their anti-Jewish, anti-Semitic, and
anti-Zionist conspiracy theories. However, in reading this book, I also fully
comprehend the complete depth of harm conspiracy theories can cause in all aspects
This book is written on a very personal level. The author references Northwestern University, and its scholars because it is his alma mater. There is no doubt that Northwestern University influenced him in many positive ways, inspiring him to become a lifelong learner, and his graduate studies there furnished him with the skills to compete in the banking and investment world. This heartfelt, and well researched book makes fascinating and enlightening reading. Highly recommended.
About the Book:
Conspiracy U exposes how conspiracy theories drawn from far-right and far-left ideologies masquerade as scholarship at many universities, endangering our norms and conceptions of morality and truth.
In Conspiracy U, Shay presents a case study of his alma mater, Northwestern University, in order to challenge the proliferation of anti-Zionist conspiracy theories championed on college campuses by both the far right and far left.
Shay tackles the thorny question of how otherwise brilliant minds willingly come to embrace and espouse such patent falsehoods. He explains why Zionism, the movement for Jewish national self-determination, has become the focal point for both far-right and far-left conspiracy theories. His keen analysis reveals why Jews serve as the canary in the coal mine.
Conspiracy U delivers an urgent wake-up call for everyone who cares about the future of civil society and is concerned that universities today are failing at teaching students how to strive for truth but rather guiding students to blindly trust theories driven by ideology. The book provides a roadmap for reform based on universal moral and intellectual standards and offers a way out of the culture wars that are ripping America apart.
Getting the best The Healthcare Post Covid-19, all you need to know.
The author of this very informative book, Dr Sanjay Prasad has been a highly qualified, successful, and respected surgeon for nearly 30 years. He specialises in otology, neurotology and skull-based surgery, with a sub-speciality in otolaryngology. Dr Prasad lives and practices in Washington DC, with his wife Deepika and they have four adult children of whom they are very proud. He is the founder of SurgiPrice, Inc., which has two subsidiaries SurgiQuality and SurgiConnect, which have missions to connect patients with the best surgeons who operate in a cost effective environment.
Dr Prasad begins this book by looking back at how our world has changed since the emergence of COVID-19. The speed of its spread and the loss of lives during this pandemic has been unprecedented. It is thanks to the united work of healthcare systems around the world in their efforts to find a vaccines, and then efficiently arranging mass vaccinations for the people very quickly – Operation Warp Speed (OWS,) that many people are a lot safer now. These vaccinations along with wearing masks, social distancing, and scrupulous hygiene, are working effectively in the fight against Covid-19, although recurrences are a high possibility, and may be so for some time.
Fear of the pandemic, and government guidelines have meant that the healthcare system has changed beyond belief. No longer do we sit in crowded waiting rooms passing and receiving germs whilst waiting to see a doctor. This previous ‘normal’ way of life is now too dangerous. Instead technology has risen as our saviour. We can have telephone, Facetime, Skype or other types of consultations, safe in our own home. The internet and emails have been utilised in revolutionary ways and these giant leaps forward keep everyone as safe as possible.
However, another victim of the pandemic are those people who need elective surgery, and here we are not talking about cosmetic surgery, but rather those surgeries for life threatening illnesses like cancer, and heart problems, where the patient is not admitted through Emergency but rather has their surgeries arranged by their practitioner or the hospital. The pandemic has, through necessity postponed countless of these surgeries, with sometimes tragic results.
As a doctor, the author knows that patients, when being informed of a medical diagnosis, through worry, fear, or for many other reasons don’t always take in everything the doctor or surgeon tells them. At times like these the mind goes blank, you don’t think to ask questions, query options available, ask if the person who will do your surgery is the best surgeon, or a million other things. He acknowledges that the patient slips into ‘The Patient Trap’ and decisions are often taken with the patient being swept along the system. This is where SurgiQuality comes in to play, looking after the patient and assuring they get the best care, at the lowest price.
Dr Pasad empowers his readers with important information, such as, and this one surprised me, that Centres of Excellence (COE) are self-proclaiming, any centre can give themselves this label! He looks at how advertising, TV, magazines and billboards are used to entice clients, and points out that it is the surgeon who does the operation and arranges the post-op care, not the hospital!
This is where the author’s company SurgiQuality comes in. It offers security of expertise, and an easy to understand star-graded system. The patient are provided with a hand holding service, and can rest assured they are being evaluated by the best medical professionals. These professionals ensure that all the options which are available are being considered, whilst lowering the clients out of pocket expenses.
How to enrol in SurgiQuality, and how it works is clearly explained, and there are plenty of case studies for the reader to examine.
This world is changing so fast. Isn’t it nice to know that, whatever health problem arises, there’s someone you can trust to hold your hand, and guide your decisions, with YOUR best interests at heart?
About the Author:
Sanjay Prasad, MD, FACS, has been a practicing surgeon for nearly thirty years in the super-specialized field of otology, neurotology, and skull base surgery, a subspecialty within otolaryngology head and neck surgery (ENT). Prasad is one of the few surgeons in his specialty to complete three fellowships in neurotology, advanced head and neck oncologic surgery, and cranial base surgery. He is an assistant professor at George Washington University.
As a medical director for an ambulatory surgery center, he was one of the first to start bundling surgical services for all-inclusive prices in 2014. In the same year, Prasad founded SurgiPrice, Inc. with subsidiaries SurgiQuality and SurgiConnect, with a mission to help surgical patients connect to best-in-class surgeons who operate in a cost-efficient environment.
He is the author of Resetting Healthcare, which examines the lack of transparency in surgical care and offers SurgiQuality as a solution.

A Clearly Written Comprehensive Guide to Understanding Finance.
This incredibly informative book really is the definitive
guide to finance. Mark Lazar is a Certified Financial Planner, and senior vice
president of investments for a national wealth management firm, who has not
only worked in the industry for twenty-five years but has a Batchelor of
Science in Finance, and a MBA. However,
it is his personal experiences watching his parents struggle to make ends meet,
and hard personal circumstances, which motivated him to do better. Working from
the age of twelve, this self-made man “quickly learnt the correlation between
effort and reward and became a millionaire by age forty.” What better
recommendation could anyone ask for, when seeking financial advice?
Set out in five sections, beginning with the basics, the
author covers important subjects such as balance sheets, cash flow, credit
scores and taxes. Then in Section 2, he discusses ‘The Head Versus the Heart,’
getting down to the hard tacks of get rich schemes, education funding, and
wants, versus needs. Or as he says “It’s important to understand the difference
between essential and non-essential spending: wants versus needs.” These days,
pressures such as these are very real and cause great financial hardship. I
just loved this excellent quote he used, “Too many people spend money they
earned, to buy things they don’t want, to impress people that they don’t like –
Then he tackles the ‘big’ financial decision we make during
our lives, either alone or with a partner, our home. He advises the reader on how
to decide which option would be better for them, to rent, or buy, and mortgage
options. Then as life continues, how to plan for the future, investment
properties, risk management and onward…
Until, the year’s roll quickly by and you find yourself
considering retirement plans, assets, social security, income in retirement, and
the many options available to you. Perhaps you would like to know how to work
the Stock, or Bond Market. Well, this incredibly knowledgeable author
demystifies these, and discusses other options which are available too.
Finally in Section 6: The Big Picture, he provides
‘Economics 101,’ and talks about inflation, deflation, Fiscal Policy and other
I hope the author doesn’t mind me quoting this paragraph. “The
bad news is there is no magic formula or get- rich-quick scheme. The good news,
however, is that by building your wealth the right way—by understanding and
incorporating sound financial principles into your everyday life and doing a
handful of things a little better—over time you will become financially secure.
Furthermore, the very same principles that enable you to achieve prosperity
will also ensure you won’t lose it once you have it. For me, it explains
perfectly why I believe this book should be on every high school reading list.
I have never read such a comprehensive guide written in such an easy to understand way. Highly recommended!

The author, Dr. Link, earned his MD at Washington University
School of Medicine in 1982. He completed his internship and residency in
Internal Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine and Bellevue, American’s oldest
public hospital, where he is now the Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Link was
Co-Chief Editor of the “Bellevue Guide to Outpatient Medicine,” winner of the
American Medical Writers Association award as Book of the Year for Physicians
I found reading this absolutely fascinating, the authors
frank memoirs of events and the patients he has treated during his career in
this prestigious hospital were both very entertaining, and revealing. One can
only admire his candidity in exposing the inevitable mistakes which had been
made in the past by the medical professionals. Yet, whilst doing this, he also revealed
the very ‘human’ side of the nurses, doctors, and other professionals, and the
invaluable gift of sixth sense which sometimes prevailed.
I would imagine that many readers of this book, like myself,
will forget for most of the time the political aspect of this book, and the morals
in the stories it contains. Because, quite simply, the writer has enrobed the
politics so well in an excellent story that his message is naturally absorbed,
as if my osmosis.
However, the book illustrates that the pressures,
expectations, and management skills, required to keep a large hospital like
Bellevue functioning smoothly cannot be underestimated. And, as we discover, it
is not all about self, self, self, the hospital isn’t an island. There are the
patients, workers, other facilities of the same, and similar ilk, to be added
to the equation of every decision. Crisis, have and will happen, whether it be
AIDS, Ebola, the coronavirus, or meteorological disasters such as earthquakes,
hurricanes and fires. All these factors,
and many others have to be juggled carefully to keep the different departments
running smoothly, and the patients care to the best possible standard. Also,
importantly, when an error is discovered, it cannot be overlooked, or swept
under the carpet, it must be dealt with, corrected, and measures put in place
to ensure it is not repeated. Just like in ruling a country…
The author has cleverly likened the state of America to that
of a terminally ill cancer patient. He however, unlike many author’s doesn’t
blame one president/party or another, a particular set of circumstances, or
even the handling of an individual event or crisis. He instead acknowledges
that every illness is different and therefore calls for unique treatment, and just
as importantly, accepts that the symptoms have been present for a long time.
He, as if medically treating the cancer, through his stories
looks at the underlying symptoms of his patients and by extension the country. These
life lessons and memories have given the author a unique perspective and he
offers interesting solutions to America’s problems through them.
This is a book for the leaders and the people, both insightful, and educational. If only the people in power could embrace, and go forward with the author’s suggestions, this country would be in remission and a long way to recovery. Highly recommended.
About the Book:
A NATION IN DISTRESS
America has enjoyed an enviable life. Yet, in recent years, there have been unmistakable signs of chronic illness. Our economic progress has fallen off its once-blistering pace, our ability to shape world events has been checked, and our vaunted democratic institutions have begun to collapse around us. America is ailing. Now, here we are, nearly forty years into a chronic illness that has resisted our best efforts at diagnosis. Is this the cancer of our advancing age? The long, slow, terminal decline that will defy the best approaches of modern Medicine? Our fitful end? Not necessarily.
In the past four decades, American hospitals have garnered principles of safety from the aviation industry, gathered tips about quality from automobile manufacturers, and gleaned insights into customer service from the hotel trade. These interstellar innovations launched American healthcare into a continuously self-improving model of advancing performance. As such, the world of Medicine has valuable assets to offer the political multiverse: A culture of excellence. Intellectual tools to diagnose and treat difficult problems. A systematic approach that guides almost everything we say and do, yet is seldom employed in the chambers of government. And now it is time to pay it forward.
In this collection of riveting stories from patient narratives and leadership challenges – from heartbreaking tales of AIDS, to a harrowing evacuation during Superstorm Sandy, to the exhilarating conquest of Ebola – Dr. Nate Link translates a lifetime of experience into useful lessons for our nation’s leaders. To review these examples, he takes us to the bedside of his most memorable cases. We will learn from Natalie, the well-meaning ICU nurse who ignored the ventilator alarm, Juan, the irrepressible AIDS patient who had nine lives, Gerry, the bemused accountant whose brain could not store new memories, and Thomas, the accidental tourist who was raised from the dead. Two dozen other notable patients will teach us additional lessons in leadership. In the final chapter, our lessons will jointly lead us to a most unexpected conclusion and a prescription for the cure of our nation’s mysterious malady.
Dr. Link is the Chief Medical Officer of Bellevue, America’s oldest public hospital, and has practiced there since arriving as a lowly intern at the onset of the AIDS epidemic. He earned his MD from Washington University School of Medicine in 1983, then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at NYU School of Medicine and Bellevue Hospital in 1986. Dr. Link was Co-Chief Editor of the “Bellevue Guide to Outpatient Medicine,” winner of the American Medical Writers Association award as Book of the Year for Physicians in 2001.
The author Michael James Geanoulis Sr.’s, primary mission in
writing this book was to improve understanding about why it was thought there
was a need for Amendment Seventeen, and the repercussions of this amendment on
the economy and society of America. However, he also ponders what the thoughts
of the founding fathers would be if they returned now, and discovered that although
it was their intention for America to be a republic, instead it is now a
In the Constitution, signed on September 17, 1787, Article
1, Section 3. Stated that “The Senate of the United States shall be composed of
two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof, for six Years;
and each Senator shall have one Vote. … The Senate shall have sole Power to
try all Impeachments.”
However Article 17 was amended in 1913, when it was decided
to give the people, instead of the state legislature the right to vote for
their Senator, in other words, the Senator is chosen by the people.
The author openly admits at the beginning of the book that
he hopes for a repel, however he realises that, “Only a low level repair is
even remotely likely.” And so, he has laid before you his readers, an incredible
amount research carried out through the years, accompanied by studies,
documents, letters, graphs, and photographs, so as to enable you to form your
own opinion on the subject.
From an early age Michael James Geanoulis Sr.’ has had a
keen interest in economics and social issues, and for many years he served on
agencies involved with these matters. He holds a degree in electronics
technology from DeVry Technical Institute, a business degree from Southern New
Hampshire University and is otherwise a self-appointed, self-taught Jack of all
Liberal Arts, but master of none. He published his biography ‘The Big Gorge’ in
2018, and lives in historic New Castle, New Hampshire with his wife, Norma, two
cats, and three horses.
This is a fascinating and informative book which will appeal to those interested in the political, social, and economic history of America. The question is, what do you think after reading it? Was Amendment 17 a blessing, or a curse?
About the Author:
For most of his life, Mr. Geanoulis worked as an electronics field engineer on nuclear submarines for the U. S. Navy, and automatic sorting machines for the U. S. Postal Service. After retiring in 1998, he pursued an interest in social issues, economics and low-level gardening. During a span of about thirty years he served on such New Hampshire agencies as the Governor’s Commission on Child Support, the Strafford County Domestic Violence Coalition, a legislative Task Force on Family Law, and the world’s first Commission on the Status of Men. He authored a personal biography for his family, The Big Gorge in 2018, which detailed his personal learning experiences and philosophy. He holds a degree in electronics technology from DeVry Technical Institute, a business degree from Southern New Hampshire University and is otherwise a self-appointed, self-taught Jack of all Liberal Arts, but master of none. He resides in historic New Castle, New Hampshire with his wife, Norma, and two amazingly talented black cats, who, after a year of patient tutoring, now roll over on command. Norma owns and cares for three equally talented and beautiful horses.
About the Book:
Our thoroughly educated and distinguished founding fathers spent more time on the careful construction of our Senate than on any other topic. They wanted it to be populated with the highest and best humanity had to offer. So, they concluded, by a vote of 10 to 0, that such a Senate could best be achieved by assigning State legislatures the chore of selecting them; not the public at large who were already given the House of Representatives.
They would no doubt be biased in this regard, but if the founders could be resurrected long enough to survey how we managed the well-considered legacy they gave us in 1787, and how Amendment Seventeen (A17) impacted that legacy, they would be horrified. “What were you thinking?” they would likely ask as they discovered our slowly deteriorating condition, “We intended for you to have a republic, not the popular democratic spectacle of turbulence and contention demonstrated by the ancient record.”
Now that we’ve had more than a hundred years of experience with (A17) and its revised, 1913 formula for popular Senate elections, we should be able to parse the available evidence on the before and after 1913, were we interested enough to do so, in order to determine whether or not A17 was a net good thing for us, or a bad thing; whether or not it was a Blessing for the United States, or a Curse.
